The Blog by the Polish Women Scientists Network

The main objective of the Foundation Women Scientists – Polish Women Scientists Network, established in 2012, is to initiate and to promote innovative solutions to support the careers of Polish women scientists and the achievements of Polish female researchers. The Foundation works to develop and strengthen attitudes towards equality. We particularly emphasize eliminating the differences in terms of developing professional careers and promotions of women and men. One of the Women Scientists’ aims is popularization of modern technology as a tool used in scientific research, an instrument for dissemination of knowledge, as well as a key to development and cooperation in the field of training, education and popularization of digital skills. We work on the national and international level, conducting activities as follow:

  • the competition “Innovation is a Woman” addressed to female researchers, who develop innovative ideas or introduce new solutions – the winning solutions are presented at international exhibitions and innovations fairs;
  • “Ekspertki.org” database of female experts (women scientists, specialists of different areas), whose expertise and experience could support media debate, the third sector and public authorities;
  • grants actions and occasionally competitions awarded with thematic books or tickets to events related to the presence of women in science and business;
  • patronage campaigns for scientific and popular science events;
  • patronages for books;
  • cooperation with other public and nongovernmental organizations,  informal groups, publishing houses, individuals.

The Foundation’s cooperation with the National Science Center began in 2019. As a part of joint activities, representatives of Polish Women Scientists Network conducted a series of trainings for National Science Center employees and people responsible for assessing applications in the POLONEZ BIS program, in the field of unconscious bias and responsible research and innovation.

The Science & Lifestyle Blog is also a part of joint cooperation between National Science Center and Women Scientists Foundation. This is the place where recipients, readers can meet scientists who are the participants of the POLONEZ BIS program. The readers can get information about their research and their outcomes, and the projects they currently are working on. But, what is equally important, the readers will also know what kind of people the participants of the program are, what are their interests and passions apart from science, how they put themselves together in the Polish reality (both university and non-professional): what they value in Poland the most, what makes them surprised, the differences and similarities between Poland and the countries they come from. It won’t be only a scientific blog, but above all a “lifestyle” blog with a twist.
